Improving Charity Walks through Collaboration

Hello everyone!

Roger asked me to give a little introduction so here is my plug. I have been working the past few years to design a free, on-line fundraising platform. The name of our site is BEEx.org but there isn't much up there yet besides our silly little blog. However, the site will be completed after Thanksgiving Break so if anyone would like to be a Beta tester then let me know, we would love to have people in the charity walk world giving us feedback.

Just a little back story. This project began a few years ago when I was in college and decided that I wanted to walk across the Great Wall of China (maybe the biggest charity walk of all). As we designed software for this initiative we began to see how prohibitively expensive the existing fundraising software was to most non-profits. So we refocused ourselves with the mission of designing a media focused fundraising site with no start up fees, no transaction costs (other than those charged by the credit card companies) and no difficult set up. With our tools you can manage your participants, create customized fundraising pages, upload as much media as you want, and integrate your corporate sponsors into the social media streams created by your fundraisers. If anyone is interested in learning more please let me know and if you have any advice, I would love to hear it. I believe in the goal of improving through collaboration and I want you to help us make our tools better so that we can better serve you.

Hi Matthew,

We would love more info.

I'm the VP of the JFK Rotary Club and every year we host our major fundraiser . . . a 5K run on the runway at JFK. Currently we use Active.com but our runners/walkers pay $3.25 for registration.

Let me know how we can start working together for 2011.

Thanks

Roger,

BEEx.org is the first in a line of web products we will be releasing, some of which will be free to use and others not. BEEx itself has two primary revenue streams: Sponsorship brokering and premium services. Our site provides ample space for its users to promote their sponsors. That sponsorship gets tied into all the activity surrounding the fundraiser outside the site as well. This means your emails and social media marketing can be branded as well as your fundraising page. Its a great way for organizations to add value to their existing sponsorships or even go out and find new ones. We can provide the marketing materials that appropriately convey the value of this offer. We also offer a handful of other services, including social media consulting and online donation processing. Through our affiliate relationship with authorize.net we can offer a lower transaction cost than just about anything you'll find on the internet.

We have a handful of other revenue streams we plan to roll out as the site matures. All of our services are designed to keep costs as low possible for the nonprofit.

Matt,
Thanks for sharing about your endevour. It has the potential of helping many nonprofit organizations. I am interested in learning how you plan to support it financially. Advertising? Premium features? Other services?

I would love to be a Beta tester. I will also offer to write a review and interview you when the software is ready for primetime.
